Hoovervilles

They are slum towns built by people without homes during the Great Depression in the United States (1930s).
They were named after Herbert Hoover (the president of the United States in that time). People thought he was responsible of the Great Depression.
In the Grapes of Wrath, a novel written by Johm Steinbeck, the Joad family stays in a Hooverville.

Flapper

My name is Lana Washington, I am 21 and I live in California. Every Friday I get up and have a cup of coffee. Later I go to work selling things in the market (because I'm a merchant). I am there during the morning and I eat there too. After that, I arrive home at 14:30. I sleep two hours and I get dressed up to go to a cocktail party (usually celebrated far away from my house). I put on a pair of high heels, a short skirt and my make up. At 18:30 I'm ready to go. I meet my friends in a square and we go to the party. While we walk, we smoke some cigarettes and drink. At 22:00 we get to the party and we stay there all night singing and dancing.
